Hastings and Rother & East Sussex Downs and Weald Primary Care Trusts have appointed a new Chief Executive to work across both organisations.
Mike Wood comes from Hammersmith and Fulham Primary Care Trust in west London, where he has served as Chief Executive for the past two years. He has a wide range of experience in primary and community care, as well as in commissioning acute hospital health care, having previously worked in a variety of roles in the NHS across the South East.
He spent four years as Chief Executive of Mid Sussex Primary Care Trust and was then Director of Performance and Service Improvement for the Surrey Sussex Strategic Health Authority.
Charles Everett, Chairman of Hastings and Rother PCT said: “I am delighted that Mike will be joining us as Chief Executive. The PCT is committed to delivering better health and healthcare services to local people. The experience Mike will bring will be invaluable in helping us deliver our ambitious plans for Hastings and Rother.”
East Sussex Downs and Weald PCT Chairman John Barnes added: “I am delighted that we have been able to appoint Mike Wood, who is not only a talented Chief Executive, but brings considerable experience of primary care and an approach to his work which is wholly in line with the philosophy that underlies our work at East Sussex Downs and Weald.
Commenting on his appointment Mike Wood said: “I am really looking forward to working in East Sussex and meeting all the staff working for both PCTs, as well as all of our local stakeholders including East Sussex County Council, local voluntary organisations and public and patient representative groups.”
Mr Wood will be taking up his new post in the autumn.
He succeeds Nick Yeo who left the PCTs earlier in the summer to join Hampshire Partnership NHS Trust.
The PCTs’ Director of Finance, Vanessa Harris, will continue as acting Chief Executive in the interim.
