A group of local mums have this week completed their training as breast feeding peer supporters in St Leonard's and Hastings.
They join the existing team of NHS volunteers providing information and support to parents choosing to breastfeed their babies.
The service, a partnership between the NHS, National Childbirth Trust and ESCC Children's Centres aims to increase the number of babies breastfed for longer because the health benefits are well known.
For babies they include growth, development and resistance to various health problems and illnesses.
Benefits for Mums include bonding time with their babies and easier loss of any extra baby weight.
Families who would like to contact the breastfeeding support team or find out about the group's activities can speak to their health visitor or children's centre team or log on to
