Having trouble sticking to your New Year’s resolutions?
Want to give up smoking, eat a healthier diet and take more exercise, but don’t know how to get started?
Well, help is at hand.
This Saturday (29th January 2011) a team of NHS experts will be on hand at Priory Meadow Shopping Centre in Hastings to give you free advice and support on leading a healthier lifestyle.
The NHS Hastings & Rother Health Trainers, together with the NHS Stop Smoking Service and the NHS Healthy Weight team, will be manning a stand from 9am to 5pm.
Mary Gillam is the team leader for the Hastings & Rother Health Trainers. She says:
“We will be giving people a one stop shop to help them make 2011 a healthier year for them and their family.
The Health Trainers can offer people dedicated, personalised advice and support on things like getting active, losing weight and drinking sensibly.
Giving up smoking is one of the best things you can do to improve your health. There’s a range of free NHS support to help you which the Stop Smoking Service can tell you all about.”
Mary adds:
“The NHS Healthy Weight team will also be able to offer advice on eating a healthy diet, including how you can get involved in the Change4Life ‘Great Swapathon’ to encourage people to swap less healthy foods for much healthier ones.
We will be at Priory Meadow all day on Saturday (29th January 2011).
People can just turn up and get help and advice on the spot.”
