The Bribery Act 2010 comes into force on 1 July 2011, aiming to tackle bribery and corruption in both the private and public sector.
NHS Sussex welcomes the Act and, in line with our commitment to ensuring that the work we do remains fair, honest and free of bribery, we are keen to ensure we comply with the Act’s standards.
As a NHS organisation we follow good NHS Business Practice and have robust controls in place to prevent bribery. In addition, we have tested internal procedures to thoroughly investigate if any claims of bribery or corruption are made.
One of the six principles of the Act demands that there is top level commitment to the prevention of bribery and this is most certainly the case at NHS Sussex. Work is underway to ensure our policies are updated and consistent, that business partners are fully assessed, and that our staff understand the importance of openness at all times.
On behalf of the Trust I confirm our commitment to ensuring that NHS Sussex is free of bribery and corruption.
